Halloween and Thanksgiving!

The kids really got a kick out of Halloween this year. Mason was really excited to be a dinosaur and Haley borrowed a lady bug costume from the Evans'. The Burrough Halloween party was amazing with awesome treats and cooperative weather for an outside get-together.

Mason loved the crazy prizes. He must have worn his dino-costume more days than not leading up to Halloween. We were especially blessed with an amazing fall, we had many warm days to play outside. Halloween itself here in Utah can be snow-hail(this year), even warm sunshine like last year. You really never know what you will have in Utah.

Mason and Haley were very excited to for the actual trick-or-treating venture. We started very early, but unfortunately it hailed and blew so hard that Dad had to run up the hill and fetch the van to bring everyone home. Our utility trailer was blown by the wind and almost made it to the curb! It was a stormy occasion. We spent the evening with the Ireland's and enjoyed treats and fun.

Could there be a cuter posse at the door? I think not!
As is typical, Mason gets goofy and Haley gets feisty when a long day comes to a close. No more pictures!
For Haley, every day is becoming Halloween. She absolutely loves to do her dress-up and has a dress on most days. It is really cute. Like her Mom, she is willing to bear a bit of cold if the fashion is right! ;-)
We have a great bedtime tradition. Adam most of the time heads that up. PJ's first. Then "magic" blanket story time. After brushing teeth and generally getting ready for bed. The kids meet in one of their rooms with their favorite blanket. The blankets are placed on the floor for Daddy and the kids to sit on. Each kid is allowed to bring 2-3 books (depending on how late or in most cases how tired Dad is). We read books, say prayers, and even sing a couple of songs before returning to each kids room for individual cuddles or conversation and bed. The kids love their routine and so do we!
Liz learned to make the Monster Green smoothie. The kids eat it in smoothie and pop sickle form and love it. We love it because it contains all sorts of veggies!

This part could be called kids and technology. We find that pictures help us remember our kids. Our kids want to remember their toys. Mason took this picture.
Liz has really enjoyed her baking and cooking talent this year. Almost as much as her family! These are a couple of quick shots of Liz making homemade caramel. The temperatures have to be exact. The apples were really great the homemade caramel was set off by the awesome Fiji and Granny apples. We even packed a cooler and mailed them to Nana and Papa in Oregon so they could know of its awesomeness!




As Liz will sometimes get lost in the fun of cooking, the kids will hang at her feet. Or as the case may warrant, nap at her feet.
First snow meant the kids suited up to play. The kids absolutely love snow time. The latest storm kept them busy for hours first building a snow man at the Ireland's and secondly at our house. Thanks again, Natasha!

Haley is adorable. We love her brown eyes. She has a way of melting all of your frustrations away with a smile and goofy mannerism. She coined the phrase, "You silly bum-bum!" All of us adults now use it.
Mason had a little school play. His class was dogs in the play as they read through a book. At a recent teacher's conference, Mrs. Jessie emphasized that Mason is doing great at playing with others and being a leader. She expressed over and over how much she cares for him and said he is one of a handful of students that she really wants to know where he is at in a few years. She is awesome with him and Mason can't wait to see her every school day! She is quite the teacher if a four year old will get on a giant Yellow bus to go see. Mason's Dad would have no part of pre-school and skipped straight to Kindergarten.

Mason is very particular and wanted to show his book to Dad and Haley. He picks out his clothes each day and sometimes has an outfit change somewhere in the middle. If you're wondering about his affinity towards clothing, don't worry. His Dad was much the same, we know how that turned out, and Mason refuses purple and pink!

The three amigos. It's so cute to watch Haley hang with the older boys! She must be doing something right because Taylor will ask to play with Haley if Mason is gone at school or sick. She just loves those boys and they treat her great.
This year we had a family Thanksgiving appetizer cook off. Liz took second place and even got a prize. Adam benefited in enjoying the many appetizers. Adam can be seen in the background facing away as he carefully trims what is becoming his signature/only dish. Deep fried cajun Turkey. Yum!
We enjoyed playing "fat dog" while the kids from young adults to babies danced for us. Haley is starting to show she was blessed with Mom's musicality and really seems interested in dance. We absolutely love it. So You Think You Can Dance season 23 anyone? Thanks to everyone who made this an awesome Thanksgiving feast and party! We can't get enough of family! most of the time. ;-)

A new tradition is get up and move Jacobson family. We played Volleyball, dodge ball, basketball, etc the day after Thanksgiving. It was a lot of fun. The basketball is very competitive and good-natured.



Liz wasn't afraid to be aggressive. She was always up in my grill! Adam is afraid of her after she almost took out the Stake sports director a couple of years ago in ward ball!

Round 2: Thanksgiving at Carolyn's. The kids found Grandma Carolyn's dress up clothes and loved it. Haley talks about her girlfriend/cousins all the time.
Liz remembers some of these dress-up outfits from when she was a kid. We all grow too fast!
